Four images produced for two commercial outdoor. Located in Oporto, this private condominium/ building, currently under construction, was developed by Adriano Pimenta and Octávio Queirós.
Sometime ago we created a poll and to our surprise there was a draw of 113 votes for each side (VraySun/Sky vs HDRI). In the end, we had to choose only one and so HDRI was the method selected to illuminated this scene. We hope you like it.
Juizados Especiais
April 5th, 2012 § Leave a Comment
In this picture we tried to capture the massive weight of this “interior” parking lot side with a strong perspective. AboutBlankArchitecture did a great job with the brazilian looking architecture, and this is our favourite shoot of their nice project! It consists of an huge building for Juizados Especiais, in Cuiabá, Brazil. Mood was intended to be hot – tropical, so this time we decided to use a warm Direct Light (instead of hdri) and played a bit with the newest Viz People Skies package.
Lucios
March 17th, 2012 § 4 Comments
Commercial images of Lucios office building located in Maia, Portugal. Architectural project created by João Álvaro Rocha, Arquitectos. Project main reference goes to Dan Graham glass works type of effect, supposed to be visualized in the courtyard glass material. Here the wood pine covering all the façade had to be kind of “dead”, with almost no reflection.
Book of Creation
March 12th, 2012 § 3 Comments
Book publication of our works, this time by French editor Stéphanie Guillaume. It covers around 1000 works of 86 digital artists from around the globe. In our opinion, the best thing about this publication, is it´s great diversity – incredible amount of methods of using Software to achieve Digital Art.

Vray Dome Light vs Vray Sun & Sky
February 25th, 2012 § 8 Comments
This is a Work in Progress of a commercial job concerning a building in Oporto. Just wanted to share a test of Vray Dome Light vs Vray Sun & Sky. Only curves and color balance adjustments were made in Photoshop. Vray Sun & Sky rendered faster around 25%.
Which one do you prefer? Vray Dome Light or Vray Sun & Sky?
Best regards,
Jacinto Monteiro
Biomed
February 20th, 2012 § 7 Comments
The building represents the Biomed Facility in Coimbra, Portugal. Since this work was developed during December, we tried to go for an exterior winter mood. We decided to only post the two final images we were most happy with. In the end, there were a total of five images with interiors included too.
Small note: it was fun to play a bit with Vray Lens Effects in this work.

Ourense
December 13th, 2011 § 1 Comment
Developed by Eduardo Souto Moura (Pritzker 2011), Adriano Pimenta and João Álvaro Rocha, this architectural competition project is located in Ourense and includes a TGV Station, Hotel, Office Building and a Master Plan surrounding all this buildings. Finished last November, this is the digital result of around 15 days of work. Constant modifications – even to the building structure and materials – were carried out till the last hour and we had to follow very strict rules regarding image dimensions. Not the perfect job we would say, but this is what was possible to do taking into consideration that the important thing was to achieve exactly what the client wanted, mostly focused on the building form and materials. Surely in this case, 3DS Max was used more as a tool than to create a finished product, like my friend Fabio D´Agnano would say.
The winner of this competition was Norman Foster.
As always comments & critics are most welcome!
Master IUAV
December 12th, 2011 § Leave a Comment
In the 2nd of December 2011, invited by M.A.D.I (Master Architettura Digitale IUAV) and the Architecture University of Venice, Jacinto Monteiro teached some of his 3D skills to a class of 25 students – most of them already graduated architects. Only Italian was spoken which was made us very proud.
The lesson started off by talking a bit about Jacinto Monteiro´s life before and after the University, explaining how it all started and how the bussiness developed and is currently developing.
Next to that, a tutorial about 3DSMax basic modelling for Archi-VIZ was teached, followed by a session of Q&A about several works and other recent Making Of, such us FAUP Interiors and Exteriors.
Many thanks for Fabio D´Agnano and all the students involved. It was really a very interesting experience.

FAUP – Bloco H
October 7th, 2011 § 6 Comments
This is a personal work, focused on one of the main classroom buildings of FAUP – arch. Álvaro Siza Vieira. If I remember well, the tower is called Bloco H. In the tower background the body of the library and museum can be spotted. It was on those background buildings where “FAUP – Path to Knowledge” 3D work was actually created.
Several methods, inside 3Ds Max, were used to achieve the high level of dirt detail by using vray dirt and/or composite inside vray blend materials. The full scene with Overcast and Night mood, ready to render, is available in here. In my opinion, this is a good scene to learn dirt methods, grass distribution and mood aspects, or even create commercial spots, flythroughs or use it e.g. as a car environment scene. Trees and small plants are not provided, but the home-made grass is included.
Thanks for viewing.
